Nursing remains an in-demand field, with hundreds of thousands of new nursing jobs expected to be added between 2022 and 2032, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

If you are passionate about helping people and interested in health care, nursing school could be for you. If you’re already working in nursing and want to advance your career, a bachelor’s or graduate degree could help. Offset the costs of college by checking out these 25 nursing school scholarships.

Scholarships for Nursing Students

1. American Assembly for Men in Nursing Foundation

The American Assembly for Men in Nursing Foundation sponsors student scholarships for men who are in undergraduate and graduate nursing programs. The number of scholarships, their value, and their eligibility requirements vary based on funding.

2. The NurseThink® – AACN Scholarship

The NurseThink® – AACN Scholarship supports students who have a desire to become future nurse faculty. The scholarship is open to all students who are members of the Graduate Nursing Student Academy and enrolled in master’s and doctoral nursing programs at AACN member institutions. The scholarship provides a $5,000 award to students twice a year through 2026. Deadlines are January 31 and July 15.

3. Deborah E. Trautman Future Nurse Leader Scholarship

This $3,500 nursing scholarship is designed for graduate nursing students and funded by Liaison International, the American Association of Colleges of Nursing’s (AACN’s) partner in NursingCAS. Two awards are available each year. Recipients must be enrolled in an AACN-accredited master’s or doctoral nursing program.

4. A Nurse I Am Scholarship by Cherokee Uniforms

Cherokee Uniforms awards a $3,000 nursing scholarship to 10 students every year. In addition, winners get scrubs, shoes, accessories, and medical instruments as well as membership in the Careismatic Brands Student Nurse Advisory Council until graduation.

5. Association of Rehabilitation Nurses Scholarship

The Association of Rehabilitation Nurses (ARN) offers a $1,500 award to provide financial assistance to rehabilitation nurses working toward a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree. There’s a separate scholarship that covers the full registration fee for a first-time attendee to the ARN conference.

6. Thomara Latimer Cancer Foundation Scholarship

This scholarship for African American students under 30 who live in Michigan is designed to help students attend health care programs. Award amounts vary, and students must maintain a 3.0 GPA.

7. Dashanna K. McNeil Memorial Scholarship

The Dashanna K. McNeil Memorial Scholarship recognizes individuals who are attending or planning to attend an accredited nursing institution. The scholarship aims to recognize those who have “distinguished themselves through their unwavering dedication to advancing their nursing education and making a positive impact in their communities.” The scholarship award and the number of winners vary annually.

8. Daughters of the American Revolution Scholarships

Two scholarships are offered by the Daughters of the American Revolution to nursing students. They include the Caroline E. Holt Nursing Scholarship ($2,500 to three students) and the Madeline Pickett (Halbert) Cogswell Nursing Scholarship ($2,500 to two students).

9. Emergency Nurses Association Scholarship

The Emergency Nurses Association offers educational scholarships for nursing each year, including academic scholarships available for members and non-members seeking education up to doctoral degrees.

10. The Foundation of the National Student Nurses’ Association, Inc. General Scholarship Program

The Foundation of the National Student Nurses’ Association, Inc. (FNSNA) awards scholarships of up to $10,000 per academic year. These scholarships typically focus on nursing specialties such as oncology, critical care, emergency nursing, or a certain population of the nursing profession that is often underrepresented.

11. The Geraldine “Polly” Bednash Lectureship Award

Recipients of the Geraldine “Polly” Bednash Lectureship Award are chosen by the AACN Board of Directors on the basis of their scholarship and the notability of their contributions to nursing, health care, higher education, and/or interprofessional education.

12. Health Resources & Services Administration Nurse Corps Scholarship Program

Participants in the Nurse Corps Scholarship Program can get financial assistance for tuition, fees, and education costs as well as a monthly living stipend. In exchange, they must fulfill a service commitment at a Critical Shortage Facility upon graduation.

13. Hispanic Scholarship Fund

The Hispanic Scholarship Fund awards are based on merit and range from $500 to $5,000. Applicants must be of Hispanic heritage and have a minimum of a 2.5 GPA for undergraduate and graduate students or 3.0 GPA for high school students. Awards are given to high school seniors, undergraduate students, and graduate students.

14. Hurst Review – AACN Nursing Scholarship

Hurst Review and AACN offer this scholarship program to reward entry-level nursing students for outstanding academic performance. All applicants must already be enrolled in an AACN member institution and maintain at least a 3.2 grade point average in their current program or last school attended. One scholarship in the amount of $2,500 will be distributed twice yearly. The application deadlines are September 1 and February 1.

15. March of Dimes Graduate Nursing Scholarships

Every year, two nurses receive a $10,000 scholarship, awarded by the March of Dimes. The award recognizes excellence in nursing and furthers the organization’s commitment to ensuring moms and babies receive the highest quality of medical care.

16. National Association of Hispanic Nurses Scholarship Programs

Members of the National Association of Hispanic Nurses (NAHN) can apply for its scholarships. NAHN members must have been in good standing for at least six months before the scholarship application deadline. The number of scholarships awarded each year varies. Recipients must demonstrate promise of professional contributions to the nursing profession.

17. National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners Foundation Scholarships

Members of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners Foundation can apply for grants and scholarships offered exclusively to members.

18. National Black Nurses Association Scholarship Program

Various scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $15,000 are presented each year to members of the National Black Nurses Association who are currently enrolled in a nursing program and have at least one full year of school remaining.

19. Nurses Educational Funds, Inc. Scholarship

The Nurses Educational Funds, Inc. awards scholarships and grants for nurses who already possess a bachelor’s degree but are looking for funding to complete graduate studies. More than a dozen scholarships are available each year in a variety of graduate disciplines.

20. Nurse Practitioner Healthcare Foundation Scholarships

The Nurse Practitioner Healthcare Foundation (NPHF) offers several awards and scholarships based on efforts like community service and for particular nursing study focuses.

21. Oncology Nursing Foundation Scholarships

The Oncology Nursing Foundation makes college scholarships available for those studying for bachelor’s degrees, master’s degrees, and doctoral degrees in nursing.

22. Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates Scholarships

The Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates (SGNA) offers several scholarships for registered nurses (RNs) working in gastroenterology who wish to pursue a degree.

23. Stephanie Carroll Scholarship

The Stephanie Carroll Scholarship is awarded to an undergraduate or graduate nursing student in an accredited nursing program who plans to practice in long-term care or geriatrics after graduation. Scholarship award values vary.

24. Tillman Scholar Application

Active and veteran service members and their spouses are eligible for scholarships from the Tillman Scholar program, funded by the Pat Tillman Foundation. Awards average around $10,000 each and can be used to cover tuition, fees, housing, and child care.

25. Tylenol® Future Care Scholarship Program

Every year, the makers of Tylenol® award more than $200,000 in scholarship funds to 35 undergraduate and graduate students pursuing health care education.
